Career Connections
About this Event Every Fall semester, the Accounting Society hosts the Career Connections. This trade-show style event places CSUSM Accounting Society members in front of public accounting and information firms, private industry companies, and governmental agencies in the thick of the accounting recruiting season. There will be light food and beverages served. Firm and company representatives attending Career Connections include professionals at all levels of accounting from new hires to partners and principals, often accompanied by HR recruiters.
Attending Career Connections is an important step in the recruiting process. This is your opportunity to meet many potential employers, and make a positive and lasting impression. Because most firms begin recruiting very early, it is crucial to attend as many events like Career Connections and meet professionals as early in your academic career as possible. This point cannot be overemphasized. The sooner firm recruiters and professionals get to know and remember you, the easier it will be to secure a job before graduation. It’s never too late; even if you are attending your first Career Connections just prior to graduation. Every person you meet, and every conversation you have will increase your opportunities of obtaining and succeeding at interviews. Although an event like Career Connections can be intimidating, as you attend more events, you will become more comfortable networking with professionals. Therefore, it is critical to get a head start in the recruiting process. |
